in collaboration with the DIY label Milktea Without Milk, we curated an eclectic show featuring free improviser Adam Neutron, Lego Shum, experimental musician Hirsk, modular synthesist Matthew Ryals, and my cut-up DJ set. The event attracted sound artists and a diverse spectrum of creatives. My set incorporated the work of calligrapher 黃嗨之, allowing the audience to draw and write on xuan paper while engaging with the fragmented sounds I created. This free-form approach inspired the jazz collective Fountain to host a similar sonic party. On 2024/1/27, we co-hosted a groundbreaking Gen-Z experimental music party that attracted members of Hong Kong’s older generation of experimental artists, including Xper.XR, Alok, and Nerve. This event marked a milestone in the history of Hong Kong's experimental music scene, as it introduced many new faces to the community. Our latest show, held in July 2024, combined DJing and performance art. DJs such as Fingergap, myself, Yungwaste, and noise artist Klaus Lee created diverse ambiences that encouraged participants to dance and engage in playful, safe combat. These DJ parties are now somatically intertwined with participants’ emotions and real-time movements, fostering communication that transcends auditory experience, engaging the entire body in the process.
